What Is Spotify Discovery Mode?
Discovery Mode allows eligible teams to select tracks they want to prioritize with an additional signal in certain personalized Spotify recommendation contexts.
Spotify remains in control of recommendations. Selecting a track does not create guaranteed placement, a minimum volume, or distribution to every listener.

Where Can Tracks Be Recommended?
Spotify describes Discovery Mode as a tool for selected personalized contexts where listeners discover music, including radio and autoplay sessions depending on market and eligibility.
The track still competes with other relevant recommendations for each person. The quality of the match between the song and the listener remains important.
Who Can Use Discovery Mode?
Access depends on Spotify’s criteria, territory, account type, and catalog. Not every artist, team, or track is automatically eligible.
When the tool is available, the team sees eligible tracks in Spotify for Artists or an authorized partner interface. A missing track cannot be added through a manual placement request.
Dibsteur can provide access when Spotify makes the feature available for the relevant catalog. Spotify retains the final decision on eligibility and recommendation delivery.
How Does Discovery Mode Pricing Work?
Spotify states that there is no upfront campaign budget. Instead, a 30% commission applies to recording royalties generated by streams of the selected track in relevant Discovery Mode contexts.
Streams earned elsewhere on Spotify are not subject to the Discovery Mode commission. Teams should compare incremental listening and audience growth with the royalty reduction inside the relevant scope.
This model is not a promise of profitability. A track may receive limited exposure, attract listeners who do not return, or generate results that do not justify the cost.
Choose Tracks for a Clear Test
- Prioritize songs with a clear position and an identifiable audience.
- Do not select the whole catalog without a hypothesis.
- Compare periods long enough to avoid premature conclusions.
- Review new listeners, saves, and listening across the rest of the catalog.
- Remove a track when results no longer justify the cost or support the goal.
A recent release is not always the best candidate. A catalog track that already converts listeners can provide a clearer baseline for evaluating the program.
Measure Results Without Confusing Correlation and Impact
Record the campaign period, selected tracks, and other promotional activity. Without that context, a rise may be attributed to Discovery Mode when it actually comes from a release, viral content, a playlist, or advertising.
Compare Spotify reporting with catalog statistics and revenue. Look for an effect beyond the relevant contexts, such as returning listeners, plays of other tracks, and growth in your direct audience.
